Honorable Mention Kinglets Dan Tompsett They were here yesterday, twig-boned, looting beetles from bark and limbs. You watched them while pouting by the pond. Your blue-lined eyes pilfered specks of the day's scant light. I focused on the kinglets, their quick-hearted plumage sparsely adorned but lovely when you left with an aura slightly softer than petrified wood. The birds calmed, I watched them preen while hail stung the buds your feet had crushed. |
